The name of the Band is the name of the music they play: Celtic Grass joins the traditional music of Scottish and Irish Folk music Celtic-with Bluegrass and Country songs and also Songs of their own making. Join that with Two, Three and four-part harmony and you have a never ending mixture of music and song to entertain you through our three hour Concert. As our Fiddle player says, “the fun is in the mixing”.

- Pat Rhodes from England played Guitar most of his life just for fun, till he moved to Thurles Co Tipperary (Ireland) where he joined a band playing Traditional Irish music, jigs, reels and so on. Then he was struck by incurable Affliction, the FIVESTRING BANJO and Bluegrass music. Now forty years later they still haven’t found a cure.
- Götz Ahrens: from Oldenburg in north Germany through Pat found his way back to Folk music. He had fun working out all the new and old tunes and played any instrument the had strings on it. He plays mandolin in the band, but his great love is the Double bass.
- Joe Kröger: From Kiel north Germany, started out playing Drums in a Rockabilly band then changed to Double Bass when he joined the Bluegrass Band “Sour Mash”. As the band broke Up Pat was quick to recruit him for Celtic Grass.
- Hanjo Kasßur: from Lübeck Germany, Learned the Guitar playing campfire songs, and from there went on to Irish folk music. Later with his old friend Klaus who played a very fine five string banjo changed over to Bluegrass music. Hanjo has been with the band now since 1995.
- Volker Stoob: from Hamburg Germany. He joined the band in 2004. His Fiddle and mandolin playing and his command of harmony singing have really enhanced the band, also his jazz and blues influence make some of the solo’s he plays a real treat to listen to.
Celtic Grass, fun to listen to and fun to play. Some of the songs and tunes might be old but they haven’t lost their power.
